Inspired by Escher’s tessellation, Peace by Peace is a metaphor for the union of our existences: like the pieces of a puzzle, our lives meet, unite and intertwine to build a single design of peace.
The dove, our culture’s symbol of peace, was chosen as the tessellation-emblem of a message of peace. Designed according to the rules of tessellation, translation and glide reflection, it gives birth to an infinitely repeatable tessellation, generative of a design of endless peace.
Hence the slogan Peace by Peace, a phrase that by assonance of pronunciation, in English takes on a double meaning, that of piece by piece. The typeface chosen is Adrian Frutiger’s Univers, a Swiss typeface that carries the value of peace and neutrality.
An universal message of hope, unity and harmony where, piece by piece (Peace by Peace) each of us, with the help of the other, can build a better world.
Peace by Peace. Together for a better world.
